by admin on August 16, 2012

Why detox?

It gives our internal organs a rest – by removing fibre from our food our digestive system rests and starts to remove any excess food or fluid we may be carrying while enhancing the body’s elimination of toxins that have built up in the digestive system. It is about cleaning out the system, breaking old patterns and replacing them with new ones.

8am Alkaline Cleanser
- Fresh lemon juice and warm water,

Wakes up the digestive system and aids in the process of eliminating waste from the body. Lemon is an antiseptic and aids with blood purification

12pm Green machine
- Cucumber, zucchini, celery, spinach, beetroot leaves, wheatgrass. Sweeten with apple or pear to personal taste.

Green apples aid digestion and contain pectin, which removes toxic substances and prevents food spillage in the intestines. Zucchini is rich in vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant. Parsley contains B12. Which enhances and stimulates the energy of organs. Spinach and beetroot leaves contain high sources of iron, aiding regeneration of red cells and supplying fresh oxygen to the body. Celery benefits lowering blood pressure, and it is also a rich source potassium, folic acid, calcium, magnesium, iron, phosphorous, sodium, and essential amino acids. Cucumber is a natural diuretic and helps treat disease related to kidney, liver and urinary bladder. The chlorophyll in wheatgrass is high in oxygen and light energy, which can provide the brain and body tissues with optimal environment in which to function.

3pm Afternoon delight
- Watermelon, strawberry, ginger, pineapple, orange, mint

A sweet juice to curb your afternoon sugar craving to even out blood sugar.
Fresh mint can settle a nervous stomach and other digestive conditions.
Ginger stimulates digestion and circulation, fights inflammation and arthritis.
Pineapples are rich in vitamin C and Manganese – a trace mineral that is needed for your body to build bone and connective tissues. Oranges are a great source of Vitamin C, fighting bacteria and preventing colds and the flu. Watermelon is fibre-rich and alkalizing. It helps with inflammation that contributes to conditions like asthma, diabetes and arthritis.

5pm Tropical Juice
- Pineapple, orange, coconut water

Pineapple contains bromelain and protein-digesting enzymes, and studies have shown that people who eat pineapple benefit from these digestion-supporting properties. Coconut is highly nutritious and rich in fibre, vitamins and minerals. It is classified as a “functional food” because it provides may health benefits beyond its nutritional content.

6pm Vegetable Broth
- Carrot, onion, leak, parsley
*Bring to boil and extract juice*

Every night you are juicing, you can have a warm nutritious broth, which is rich in calcium, magnesium, phosphorus and other trace minerals. The body easily absorbs the minerals in broth. Some common ingredients used in our broths at Fountainhead are onion, carrot, parsley, leek, spring onion.

Fibre Balls (take as needed)
- Figs, dates
*Extract juice and blend*

While by juicing you are removing toxins you are still having a regular bowel movement. Due to no fibre in the juices this area may slow down, to help you keep removing the toxins from your body a fibre ball can be taken each night to aid into this area.
