Stress eating disorder is characterized by refusal to maintain a healthy body weight, and an obsessive fear of gaining or losing weight due to a distorted view of self-image.
Understanding Stress Eating
Whether the stress eating disorders is being overweight, or if a person suffers from anorexia or bulimia, all individuals engage in obsessive and compulsive behaviours harmful to the body and the mind. In each instance, stress eating disorders are a serious mental illness that affects the way a person thinks about food, eating and their body.
Suffers of bulimia typically binge eat followed by self-induced vomiting or unhealthy amounts of exercise while suffers of anorexia often engage in self-imposed starvation. On overweight individual is dealing with excessive body fat that is typically healthy. Studies show stress increases the intake of foods which exacerbates body mass index and often results in obesity.
