Stress is a natural response that can be brought on when a person feels that the demands made on them exceed their ability to cope. Factors such as work, home, personal and emotional problems can contribute to the challenges in which we feel under pressure.
Stress can be described as a feeling of being wound up, overloaded and tense and this can impact your sleep making you irritable, forgetful, anxious and unable to cope.
When left untreated, it can lead to stress-related mental illnesses such as Anxiety disorder and depression which can affect your life and appear overwhelming.

Stress is frequently underestimated and timely help can make a huge difference. Our Programs are designed for just that.

Why a Recovery Program at The Fountainhead Retreat?

Clients suffering from stress-related issues attend these programs to get help when needing a holistic solution, often after trying mainstream channels to no avail and feeling another solution must be out there.

Our solution has three major and unique components:

The program uses only qualified and experienced Psychotherapists who apply evidence based tools and techniques to work on the mind to change unwanted behaviours; REBT, CBT, ACT, Mind Mapping etc. A period of psychotherapy is continued after the residential program.

Facilitated personal development workshops and topic groups that help a Client prepare for the future. Some of the topics covered are; emotions, self-acceptance, self-worth, social connection, acceptance of others, goal setting, communications and assertiveness. Personal development is continued after the residential program for 6 months, to help reinforce residential learning.

A variety of holistic stress reduction and positive mood therapies; mindfulness, yoga, personal training, massage, art therapy, cooking classes, team building and social integration.

How Our Therapists Help Manage and Treat Stress Naturally

Our Therapists have been selected as much for their ability to counsel and connect with you empathetically as they are for their experience in working with people like you.  We use evidence based educational techniques that help you pinpoint the beliefs that have been triggering your stress.

This stress-reducing process begins by learning techniques for observing an emotion resulting after the feeling is activated. We teach that trying to stop a painful emotion, at best, only achieves a temporary fix. You might get through the moment or even the hour. However, when you are in a similar situation, the same beliefs will be activated again and the same emotional responses will occur. We teach you simple ways to halt, alter and even reverse this pattern.

It is important to note, changing the belief that causes stress, such as anger or blame, does not mean you will never experience these again. What it will change however is the time you spend in that painful emotion.  Your emotions are teaching you that there is more to learn. Our Therapists teach you what to do with this new found knowledge in ways that makes your stress disappear.

Stress Management – Mindfulness Training for Stress Relief

This technique has existed and been treating stress for millennia but has only been explained scientifically in the last twenty years.
