Irritability is one of the signs of teenage depression and is often predominant – they may be hostile, easily frustrated, or prone to uncharacteristic outbursts.
Frequent complaints about stomach aches, headaches or other physical ailments can be an indication of depression, especially once a physical exam does not reveal a medical cause.
Depression in teens often results in being crushed by feelings of worthlessness and low self-esteem, making them extremely sensitive to criticism and vulnerable to rejection and failure.
Some teenagers keep up with their friendship groups while trying to deal with depression while some will begin to hang around with a different crowd or socialise less than before.

Facilitated personal development workshops and topic groups that help a Client prepare for the future. Some of the topics covered are; emotions, self-acceptance, self-worth, social connection, acceptance of others, goal setting, communications and assertiveness. Personal development is continued after the residential program for 6 months, to help reinforce residential learning.
A variety of holistic stress reduction and positive mood therapies; mindfulness, yoga, personal training, massage, art therapy, cooking classes, team building and social integration.
How Our Therapists Help Alleviate Teenage Depression
Our unique program has educational tools and techniques that examines the way a young person suffering a stress-related condition, such as teenage depression, is thinking and processing the events of their life. This is based on the core belief structures they mainly develop at an early age and how the processing of reality through these core belief structures – or as we call them, lenses – causes unwanted emotional symptoms and behaviour. This holistic therapy process helps identify where the person learnt their core beliefs on life as well as how they incorrectly measure their self-worth. The information learnt in this process takes the sufferer’s incorrect or incomplete beliefs, which are based on misinterpretations of the past, and re-educates them to look at the same past experiences objectively. The goal is to understand, learn and grow from past experiences which change the underlying cause of their unwanted emotions and long-term behaviour.
