Defining depression

Depression =  a state of low mood and aversion to activity. Depressed people may feel sad, anxious, empty, hopeless, helpless, worthless, guilty, irritable or restless.

 

Understanding depression

Classified as a mood disorder, individuals enduring depression tend to lose interest in activities that once were pleasurable and fun. Some people with extreme depression may contemplate or attempt suicide. Most depression sufferers experience one, or a combination of the following; loss of appetite or overeating, problems concentrating or remembering details or making decisions. Other common symptoms of depressive illness are; insomnia, waking early, excessive sleeping, fatigue, loss of energy, or aches, pains or digestive problems.

Depression causes powerful mental and physical suffering that has serious consequences for a perron’s happiness and motivation.
