Founder Wayne Parrott, originally decided to build Fountainhead after his mother Margaret's fight with cancer many years ago. Multiple myaloma was the type and the prognosis was three years. He started reading and searching for answers with her and was amazed and what little balanced information he could find. She attacked her illness using a low fat "Pritikin Style" diet, a little exercise, (Walking) meditation, (through prayer) and like all patients a huge faith in her specialist. Mum lived for 13 years which at the time and for the illness was a considered a success. What mum learnt along the journey was invaluable to herself and her family. To quote Margaret, "The best thing that ever happened to me was cancer".
At Fountainhead today we have moved much further along the path of helping with cancer support and self treatment. We offer two programs. Firstly the Fountainhead information approach. The approach we take is a multi pronged attack and all this information is presented in Retreat format. Most months during 2006 Greg Neville N.D. and Brian Morely, (Brian's web site)will help host our 10-15 day Cancer retreats.
The programs includes all meals, supervised fasting and detox, (each Monday through Wednesday) all activities, an optional Journey therapy and all group counseling.
Secondly we offer 21 day, Breuss Cancer Cure retreats.

When faced with Cancer I was forced to consider all of the following as allies:
1. Decision making process
The person must decide to recover and take responsibility for that decision. Tough strategies need to be adopted and the chance of recovery will largely depend upon your work and efforts. Change must take place. Many people find this confronting and the most difficult step on the road to recovery.
2. Diet and nutrition
Initially if the patient is strong enough fasting regimes can be considered to Detox, (we show you a three day detox on your visit) or you may consider the much more radical Breuss Cancer Cure 21 day juice and herbal tea fast. All food and juices are organic and fruit and vegetable supplements are the only ones recommended, but again this is your decision area. Raw food must be an ever increasing part of your diet. Education is key here and Fountainhead presents a Raw Food School each Thursday.
3. Philosophy
We examine the concept of a life belief system. We look for which area of inaccurate philosophy are contributing to the health issue. This is nearly always the case, as otherwise serious illness would not be present Greg Neville our Guest host will cover this area with lectures Monday through Wednesday. Greg is also available for one on ones, ($180 session).
4. Cause of disease
Firstly we attempt to accurately identify what has contributed the immune system not functioning correctly. At Fountainhead we firmly believe that the Cancer is a "whole body" illness that is manifesting in a particular area. Psycho-somatic's is the approach used most effectively here. Greg will again cover these topics.
5. Light exercise
Small amounts of aerobic exercise provide a positive underpinning to the entire program, (when possible). Our walking, (Rainforest, waterfalls and beaches) Yoga classes-beginner along with use of the Natural Hot Spring Baths help set the body up to play its part in your recovery. Our setting in Maleny is magnificent for such activities.
6. Physical therapies
From massage therapy to reflexology, Detox Mud wraps to full on pampering and play, all our therapies are designed to aid the body in recovery and keep the endorphins flowing. Our Turkish Steam Room helps with heavy metal detox.
7. Meditation:
Here we teach and explain values and protocols of meditation. We practice in a variety of settings.
8. Laughter:
Norman Cousins the famous American healer along with Patch Adams were two great believers in "Laughter as the best medicine." At Fountainhead we keep a Video Library of classic comedy and use it liberally this week as well as include a session of laughing Yoga.

Can I just attend for Greg's Two Day Lecture Series?
You can attend the Saturday and Sunday lecture series before deciding to commit to a retreat. For $300 you get lunch both days and Greg's introduction to Holistic Couselling.
Can I just attend Brian Morley's Three day Lecture Series?
You can attend Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday the following week. Brianb will take you through an anti cancer nutrition program. Total cost $260, (no accommodation).
Accommodation for the Intensives: Live in accommodation is rarely available, (Full with retreat guests) but we may be able to help you find a local B & B if we can not help. If space is available see our B & B Rates.
